Huddy Best Interviewer?

Reading TV Newser, Brian refers to Jon Friedman's latest column citing the following:
"Tim Russert, the host of NBC's 'Meet the Press,' is the best interviewer on television. Period. End of story. Nowadays, with shouting commentators so in vogue on television news shows, Russert stands apart -- make that FAR apart. On the air, he never raises his voice and never gets visibly angry."
Now, I don't want to call anyone out, but I have seen Meet the Press, and I have seen Dayside, and frankly, I disagree withg Mr. Friedman on this issue. I mean, I think the following speaks for itself:

To quote Mr. Friedman: "Period. End of story."
Huddy. Huddy. Huddy.

Huddy Retrospective

Here is a little rememberance from the the old days of Fox & Friends.

And good days they were.... Huddy in the short short skits...

I believe Mr. Furley did it best...

Huddy News Spreads

Well, the story that I read at Inside Cable News has spread everywhere this morning:

Reuters
Yahoo!
Media Week
Business Wire
TV Newser
Media Village

I don't think that this has quite set in yet... but we will survive - remember that in the end, this will be the best thing for her career, and Huddy will be bigger and better than ever.

But until then, we have Dayside for a little while longer... so enjoy.

The Future of Huddy

I just saw this breaking news mentioned on Inside Cable News, so I thought I would report it directly to those that care the most about Juliet Huddy.

"FNC announced this afternoon that Martha MacCallum will host a new afternoon program called The Live Desk with Martha MacCallum from 1-2 pm ET; Dayside’s old timeslot (Dayside’s Jerrick and Huddy are headed for mornings on the FNC broadcast network). Jane Skinner will become a permanent daytime anchor for Fox News Live in MacCallum’s current timeslot of 2-3 pm ET." (ICN)

What this means for us Huddy devotees, is that we might have a little drought between the effective date (September 25) and the beginning of the year, when the network show is supposed to take off.

While this overall move could be great for Juliet, I will surely miss her for this time in between!

So, mark down Friday, September 22th in your datebooks, so that we can all celebrate the end of Huddy's rein on Dayside.

Can you imagine not having this for 3 months:

Survivor: Huddy

Yesterday on Dayside, Juliet Hudy was interviewing Jeff Probst, host of the ever-popular reality show Survivor. As most of you know, they are spliting the tribe up into 4 groups based on race: White, African-American, Latino and Asian. Now, I realize that this is an obviously ratings ploy to keep people talking about the show (Mark Burnett is getting paid big bucks for a reason). All this said, I just think that this is a terrible idea. Nothing good can come this tactic, and if you have to resport to this kind of cheap trick, then you aren't being creative enough.

Huddy and Dayside Have Class

I would like to call attention to yesterday's Dayside, and the great show featuring widows of the 9-11 tragedy.

It was great to see Huddy taking on these touching and classy interviews - she is not the best in the business for nothing, folks (not to mention great legs too).

Here is a screencap from the show:

Thanks to stingveo for the shot.

Huddy Interview, Part 2

Here is more from the Juliet Huddy Yahoo! fan site interview (again, these answers are supposedly from Huddy) :

What was it like to be interviewed by Bill O'Reilly?

[Huddy, Juliet] It was a bit intimidating, honestly. Our hours are
so different; In my 9 years at FNC, I've walked by him probably 20
times. He was actually a bit more focused than I thought he'd be
prior to the segment. I walked on set and started screwing around,
making dumb jokes and generally being a dork and he really didn't
react too much. He razzed me a bit, but I love his style.

How much of "Fox &Friends Weekend" and "Dayside scripted? How much is
ad libbed?

[Huddy, Juliet] The only things scripted on FNF's and DaySide are the
guest intros and the teases to the commercial break ("Coming up,
blah blah blah). We are a bunch of ad-libbing lovers. I can't stand
reading any scripted material -- I always end up veering off anyway.

Which show is more fun to do?

[Huddy, Juliet] That's a tough question; they each had their
attractive qualities. DaySide is a bit more serious than FNF's,
mainly b/c we're only working that one hour.

How does having an audience during "Day Side" affect you & Mike?

[Huddy, Juliet] Well, we try to keep from offending people, but that
goes out the window usually about 2 minutes in. Mike and I both have
a hard time censoring ourselves; I suppose that's what sets us apart.
A good thing in some senses; a bad thing in others.

Stay tuned for more!
