Huddy's Swan Song - For Now

Well, today is pretty bittersweet for this Huddy fan. I know Juliet is going to go on to great things on network Fox, but I have gotten so used to her in her Dayside role - mixing between the real time news stories, and fun stuff too. She will be missed, but I look forward to her next incarnation, coming our way in January. I also think that we will be seeing more of her bewteen now and then (fingers crossed).

Johnny Dollar has a fantastic series of pictures from the last day of Dayside as we know it:

From the first time that Juliet Huddy and Mike Jerrick formed their union:

And from today's final show...

Parting is such sweet sorrow... And Huddy sure has come a long way.

TV Newser also has the details.

Huddy Leads Charge

Now, I don't often read too far into the Newshounds, because they can really pounch on Fox News - most times unfairly - but I will cite a post from yesterday.

The post, entitled 'Dayside' Tosses Objectivity Aside on Chavez Coverage recounts a portion of Dayside in which both Juliet Huddy and Mike Jerrick call out Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez for his resent comments against President Buch and the U.S.

I applaud the Dayside guys, especially Huddy, for taking a stand on this matter. And they are not alone, either. ABC reports in an article: Democrats, Republicans Criticize Chavez.

I don't know what side Newshounds are on, but I will stick with Huddy, and other reasonable people (here, here, here, here, here... I could go on and on...

Huddy's Last Day - Get Your Tissues Ready

Get them ready, kids. After today's Dayside, you are going to need them.
Soak up Juliet Huddy today, because you may not see her for a while...

A Little Huddy Left

Remember to TiVo these few remaining Daysides, guys and gals.

Today is the second-to-last day before the Huddy drought begins!!

Pack a lunch, O Huddy fans!

Huddy A Part of TV Greatness

I was going to hold off on the topic of the upcoming Fox News 10-year Anniversary as the big events draw closer, but if Ace of Spades feels like jumping in, I can at least dip my pinky toe in the pool.

It really is amazing how far the network has come, especially in such a crowded news landscape. You have to give a lot of credit to the mangement over there, who saw key talents like Huddy, among others, and gave them a space to show their stuff.
"Thanks to the good people at Fox, good newsmen like former-employee Tony Snow, David Asman, Chris Wallace, Linda Vester, Juliet Huddy and current 'anchor' Brit Hume have had an outlet offered to them that might otherwise not have existed. [...]

It's not for nothing that Fox soon found itself at the top of the ratings. And, it's not for nothing that they have steadily maintained that position."
Well, said, sir!

Huddy More Than Eye Candy

After working my way around the dial, I came across the blog Pirate's Cove. He has some pretty cool stuff on there - so go check it out.
The post that intreagued me the most had to do, of course, with Juliet Huddy.

The point I think he is trying to make is that you can have all the beautiful people in the world on TV, but unless there is more to the talent than meets the eye, no one will go for it.
"To put a fine point on it, there are hotties and, I suppose, hunks on the news. That is what the media goes for. Heck, I perk up when someone like Juliet Huddy or Rachel Nichols at ESPN is on. But, while they are pretty (and I never get to see Rachel's legs), the use of sex appeal is not done to a point where it overshadows the message." (direct)
Clearly one reason that Huddy has so many fans is that she combines the best of both worlds.

On a slightly unrelated note, a belated Talk Like A Pirate Day - Celebrated (somewhere) on September 19th.

Hands off the Huddy!

Of all of the men in the world putting the moves on Huddy, this one I am not worried about:

Let's just say that Richard Simmons is not full of machismo.

Case in point:

Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:
Exhibit C:

Case Closed.

Huddy Countdown

I think I am still kind of in denial about the absence of Huddy from her regular Dayside slot after this Friday...

Hopefully they will find a way to work her in to the rotation somehow. Maybe guest appearences on Fox & Friends. We can only hope.

Enjoy these last 3 days!

One Appealing Huddy

I love reading TV Newser - if you you don't go there regularily, you need to - they have great scoop, and it is always an interesting read.

They just featured a post that comments on Maxim's List of the Top Ten Least Appealing TV Ladies. Who is #1? None other than Nancy Grace, CNN Headline News. And no, I will not lower this blog by offering a picture.

However, I will offer a picture of Ms. Huddy, who certainly would be on the Top Ten Most Appealing list.

Stay tuned...

Karaoke, Huddy Style

What song do you think Huddy is singing here:

Workin' for the weekend?
She Works Hard For The Money?
Simply Irresistible?
Freebird?
Others...???

Also - Look at Gomez go...

I welcome all comments... you know, this interenet thing is interactive...

Huddy the Next Couric?

I was reading Howard Kurtz's column this morning, and read this section on Katie Couric:

Couric Watch

It didn't take long -- six days, to be precise -- for some critics to start pronouncing Katie Couric's CBS tenure a failure.

After taking the "CBS Evening News" to first place in her debut week, Couric dropped to third last Monday, and rivals declared her surge over. But she won two of the next three nights, and finished second on the other. To be sure, Couric's more feature-oriented approach has stirred controversy, but history shows that news ratings move at a molasses pace.

"I said from Day One I'd be happy with consistent and even slow growth," says CBS News President Sean McManus. "Even being in a race for No. 1 is a pretty darn good accomplishment, a sea change considering where the 'CBS Evening News' has been the last 10 years. For some people, it's an attractive story to say that Katie is back at No. 3, when in reality this is going to be a fight for the next couple of years."
How fickle the critics are - playing Couric up one day, and slamming her the next. I can only think how, after a little seasoning to be sure, our own Juliet Huddy could reap the benefits of women like Katie Couric paving the way for more female network anchors. Huddy certainly has the looks and brains to match. It is all about timing, and the way things are going on CBS, who knows??
